Hi, I’m Elizabeth! I’m the founder of Bowl of Delicious, and the person who cooks, tastes, and photographs all of the recipes you see on this website. That’s right – all of them. It’s just been me running this food blog since 2013, and I couldn’t ask for a better job!

I’m a self-taught cook who grew up in a Greek-American family where great, homemade, from-scratch food was a part of everyday life. I’m a firm believer that from-scratch cooking doesn’t have to be complicated, and that eating and cooking is a pleasure that should be enjoyed and prioritized by all
Simply put: I love food. I love eating food, I love diversity of ingredients and flavors, and I love the way they come together to form a nourishing meal. I love the smell of cooking that lingers in a home, and I love the sound of a sizzle and the sounds of pleasure as its eaten.
In my perfect world, cooking and eating would be a joy for everyone, not a chore.
It’s my goal to make the joy of cooking and eating real, from-scratch food accessible for everyday life for anyone. I’m sharing recipes from my Rhode Island kitchen, with my two daughters Zoey and Eleanor and husband Zach as taste testers.

Experience
- Elizabeth has been a professional food blogger since 2013, honing her craft in clear recipe instructions and simplicity in recipe structure.
- She has curated an online following in the millions since then, sharing her recipes across the globe on bowlofdelicious.com.
- Her recipes have been featured across multiple media, including large companies across the internet, a podcast, published in cookbooks and magazines, and a television interview on The List.
- Her cooking experience has been life-long, but she really started honing her skills in college, now decades ago.
Recipe Inspiration
- I get much of her recipe inspiration from my Greek heritage – you’ll find lots of Greek and Mediterranean recipes on Bowl of Delicious!
- I’ve lived in multiple places across the country, and living in those different regions is a huge inspiration for my recipe development. I was born and raised in New England, but I’ve also lived in New Orleans, Austin, and Maryland/DC, and studied abroad in Italy and Peru.
- I’m also a bit obsessed with soup – not only for its cozy comforting vibes, but because it’s one of the best things to make from scratch for an easy and nutritious approach. There’s a reason why I named the site “Bowl of Delicious!”
Education
- I have my degree in Architecture from the University of Maryland. Then I found myself being a high school art teacher for seven years, before becoming a full-time blogger! Funny where life takes you, huh? The Architecture school at UMD did a lovely write-up of my non-traditional career path, where I share how I still use things I learned in Architecture school as a food blogger.
- Being a teacher (aka being busy and exhausted constantly) taught me that I needed to really hone in on my cooking to make recipes that were easy but still nourishing and healthy. That’s the entire inspiration for Bowl of Delicious.

More about me
When I’m not cooking, you can find me gardening, exploring New England with my family, hiking, playing board games with my kids, or trying some of the wonderful restaurants in Rhode Island.
I’ve recently started dabbling in video games under the tutelage of my husband, who is an avid collector (and actually runs his own retro video game website called The Chozo Project!).
