If you’ve ever wondered “what is the best spice rack to buy” or “what is the best idea to organize my spices,” look no further! The EASIEST way to organize your spices is in a kitchen drawer, nestled in an expandable spice rack specifically made to fit almost any drawer. Having organized spices in a drawer not only frees up valuable cabinet or pantry space but also makes them super easy to access, saving you tons of time in the kitchen, and is a beautiful way to display your spice collection.
If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I recently moved from Austin, TX to Rhode Island. We moved from a fairly large, brand new house to a small, not-so-well-updated rental with a teeny tiny pantry, while we try to find a house to buy. So I’ve had to get creative about making my kitchen functional and well organized.
And I’m telling you – this spice rack is LIFE CHANGING. Not only are my spices easily accessible in a drawer right under where I prep most of my food, but not having my spices crowding up my pantry has freed up lots of room in there as well.
What used to be in that drawer you ask? My silverware. I moved it to another drawer, and moved the contents of that drawer (random things like serving spoons, measuring cups, etc.) in with another drawer of random things (that drawer now is a little crowded, but the sacrifice was worth it for this amazing spice organization!).
Before and after
Here are my spices in my pantry before I organized them. There were plenty buried behind the ones in the front, and I had to reach way in the back to find them. They kept falling off the little wire shelves I have in there, which are great for larger items but not so great for small spices. It was so frustrating every time I went to cook!
Now, ALL my spices are easily accessible! No spices are blocking any others, so I can easily see what I have. I can just open the drawer and grab what I need while I prep my food. And I have so much more room in my pantry. Yay!
The Best Drawer Spice Racks
There are lots of options out there for drawer spice racks. Here is the one I have, plus other highly-rated drawer spice racks.
1. Best overall: Lynk Adjustable Four-Tier Spice Rack
This is the one I have and I’m so impressed! It’s extremely heavy duty, and the thing I love about it is it EXPANDS to fit ANY SIZE DRAWER! With four tiers, you’ll have plenty of room to store lots of spices, especially if you have a very wide drawer to put it in. It has two separate parts, so you can even use both parts separately in two smaller drawers.
2. Best for small drawers: Lynk four-tier metal spice rack
Here’s a smaller spice rack that’s perfect for smaller drawers. It’s still the same heavy duty metal material and half the price.
3. Best Budget Choice: Homeries Expandable Three-Tier Spice Rack
This smaller, three-tier, plastic spice rack is only about $15! While it only has three tiers, you can maximize your drawer space by pushing it to the back or side and using the extra space for measuring spoons and cups (which you’ll need to cook with the spices) and any other small kitchen tools.
4: Best Convertible Spice Rack (for drawer OR countertop): Fourth House Bamboo Spice Rack
Technically, you can put any of these drawer racks on a countertop or on a shelf in your pantry. But because they are so flat, they will take up a lot of valuable countertop realty. Enter: the convertible spice rack! I love the sleek and warm look of the bamboo in this one, and the stand that folds up to prop the rack upright in order to allow you to organize your spices on your countertop. This is a great pick if you aren’t sure if you’re going to like your spices in a drawer, but still want to organize them.
