Here are some of my all-time favorite food bloggers the internet has to offer- those from whom I draw inspiration for my own cooking, photography, and food blogging practice. In this list you’ll find Black bloggers that share vegan/plant-based recipes, African cuisine, air fryer, Instant Pot, and slow cooker recipes, Caribbean and Jamaican cuisine, Southern soul food, Cajun and Creole cuisine, and more all-around delicious healthy, wholesome recipes.
Food blogging is an industry, just like other industries. And Black bloggers face barriers in it, just like with other businesses. In reflecting on my business practices this week I realized I had a striking lack of inclusivity in the way I run my blog.
This week, I’m pausing all food content and creation. Instead, I’m focusing on an actionable plan for inclusivity and anti-racism as a permanent pillar of how I run my business, alongside continued activism in my personal life.
I invite you to reflect on your own internet browsing to uplift Black bloggers and their businesses. Sustained, small acts like this can help change larger, systemic issues faced by the Black community for truly meaningful change.
Here’s how:
- Visit these websites and subscribe to their email lists.
- Follow and engage with these bloggers on their social channels.
- Make their recipes. Then, comment on their posts and give them five-star ratings if you enjoyed the food.
- Share their recipes with your friends and family. Be sure to direct them to their actual websites, rather than sharing screenshots of recipes.
- Pin their recipes to pinterest.
- If you have your own website, link to their recipes on your own platform.
- Buy products through their affiliate links, or purchase their cookbooks or courses they offer.
- Or do whatever you normally do to support and engage with influencers and bloggers!
Together, we can do this. Today, tomorrow, next week, next year, and forever.
Without further ado, here are some of the most amazingly talented Black Food Bloggers the internet has to offer!

Do you have any favorite Black food bloggers that aren’t on this list? Please share their websites in the comments below!
Mary
Hi there. I happened upon your site while searching for ginger tea of all things! :-) Saw that you are a UMD alumni (as are 2 of my kids), and kept reading….. this is a great list of Black food bloggers. More important to me though, as the mom of 5 Black children (I’m white), is your explanation of why you compiled this list. Thank you! And thank you for including the links as well. I feel like the more this conversation/education takes place, the better off we’ll all be!
And I’m looking forward to trying some of your recipes! :-)
Elizabeth Lindemann
Oh wow, such a small world! I went to the architecture school at UMD (and here I am, a food blogger, hah! Funny where life takes you!). Really happy that you thought my explanation was good for why I compiled this list. Thank you for the kind words, cheers to continuing to have conversations like this + continuing education, and hope you like the recipes you try!
Deniece
very informative response on black vs white culture, i never thought of it that way, or perhaps i never had the words to explain the difference. Thank you!
Elizabeth Lindemann
When I first heard it explained this way it was a huge “aha” moment for me too!
Deniece
Thank you ! Thank you!! Thank you!!!
I never knew so many black cooks existed online! I am overjoyed that a lot of the recipes are gluten free since I was diagnosed with celiac disease , it’s been a struggle. This post reconnects me ! I am forever grateful! You have given me the opportunity to see we exist in this format online! There are healthy black foodies out there! I love it!!
Elizabeth Lindemann
Aw yay, thank you so much for this feedback <3 It made my day!

Look forward to the list of white food bloggers…
Elizabeth Lindemann
To be clear- “White” is not a culture- it’s a skin color. “Black” is a culture, as Black people in America had their cultures stripped when they were brought to America as slaves. Most Black Americans don’t have the luxury of identifying with a cultural heritage aside from their Blackness, since this heritage was taken from them by white people. Black culture is a thing that can, and SHOULD, be celebrated. Celebrating “white” culture is racist at its core for this reason.
However, celebrating cultural heritage WITHIN whiteness (Irish, German, etc.) is acceptable. I actually do plan on expanding this to a series representing different global cultures. Best Mexican bloggers, best Chinese bloggers, best Italian bloggers, etc., to ensure authentic voices for global cuisine.
And to be EXTRA clear- making a list of “white food bloggers” IS racist, as is asking for it, and I hope this explanation helps explain why a bit more, to you or to anyone else who may be confused by this concept.
And one final thing- I will be closing responses to this comment that defend the concept of celebrating whiteness – now that this information has been posted, if you are still confused, I recommend doing research about this topic to learn more about WHY it’s racist to celebrate whiteness rather than argue back (and don’t take my word for it- find resources from Black and expert voices).
Here are some good resources to get started. If anyone reading this has more resources, please comment below with them :-)
